    Après une formation médicale (MD) en immunologie pédiatrique chez le professeur Alain Fischer à Paris, j'ai effectué mon PhD en recherche fondamentale sur le syndrome de Wiskott-Aldrich chez le Dr Vainchenker à Villejuif (France). J'ai ensuite axé ma recherche sur le développement de souris NOD/SCID humanisées afin d'étudier le système immunitaire humain normal et pathologique. Recruté comme chef de service d'immunologie et rhumatologie pédiatrique et comme chercheur au CHU Sainte-Justine, mon objectif est de poursuivre mes projets de recherche sur les souris NOD/SCID humanisées, technologie d'avenir qui offre de multiples potentialités de recherche.

    Nous travaillerons notamment en association avec le Groupe de recherche en immunologie du sang de cordon afin de proposer des solutions pour améliorer la reconstitution immunitaire après greffe de sang de cordon. Nous essayons également de transférer des pathologies dysimmunitaires de l'homme à la souris comme nous l'avons fait récemment pour la néphrose. Nous utilisons ce modèle de syndrome néphrotique chez la souris humanisée afin d'identifier les mécanismes de la maladie. Nous travaillons aussi sur la création de modèles murins humanisés de déficits immunitaires en introduisant un siRNA spécifique dans les cellules greffées. Enfin, nous avons créé un modèle de souris avec leucémies humaines et cherchons à développer des techniques d'immunothérapie dans ce modèle. Ces projets seront réalisés en étroite collaboration avec l'ensemble des chercheurs de l'axe Maladies virales, immunitaires, et cancers, notamment avec les docteurs Françoise Le Deist, Michel Duval, Christian Beauséjour, Nikolaus Heveker et Daniel Sinnett.
