    Intérêts de recherche

    Patricia Conrod est chercheure au CHU mère-enfant Sainte-Justine de Montréal. Ses recherches portent sur les facteurs de risque d’ordre biologique, personnel et cognitif associés au développement et à l’entretien de la toxicomanie ainsi que sur les facteurs liés à la simultanéité des comportements de dépendance et d’usage nocif et d’autres problèmes de santé mentale. Dans ses recherches expérimentales, elle s’intéresse aux facteurs de renforcement pouvant pousser un individu à la consommation de produits toxicomanogènes. Plus récemment, ses recherches ont mené à l’élaboration de nouvelles approches thérapeutiques et préventives en toxicomanie visant les facteurs de risque personnels et les déterminants motivationnels sous-jacents à l’usage de produits toxicomanogènes chez certains sous-groupes de toxicomanes.     De 2005 à 2010, Patricia Conrod était membre du comité d’éthique pour la recherche du King’s College, Londres, et rédactrice adjointe de la revue Current Drug Abuse Reviews. Elle est consultante à l’ONU et à la Commission européenne en matière de prévention et de traitement de l’alcoolisme et des toxicomanies. Elle est également l’auteure de nombreuses publications sur ce sujet.
